Seminar Invitation: Breaking Barriers to Cloud Customer Choice – Unlocking Europe’s AI and Innovation Leadership

October 15 2025

Speakers: Thibaut Kleiner, Katinka Clausdatter Worsøe, Nicky Stewart
Time: 15:00

In-person panel discussion on the findings of our new study Breaking Barriers to Cloud Customer Choice: Unlocking Europe’s AI and Innovation Leadership.

We invite you to an in-person panel discussion on the findings of our new study, Breaking Barriers to Cloud Customer Choice: Unlocking Europe’s AI and Innovation Leadership.

The study shows how Europe can accelerate cloud and AI adoption – unlocking up to €1.2 trillion in economy-wide GDP gains and €450 billion annually in public sector fiscal savings – if structural barriers to cloud customer choice – the ability for businesses and public sector users to freely select, combine, and switch between cloud services – are removed.

Key questions to be addressed:

  • What are the main obstacles to cloud customer choice in Europe, and how do they hold back AI deployment?
  • How can EU competition policy, procurement practices, and regulation be better aligned to promote openness and interoperability?
  • How can discriminatory licensing practices be addressed to promote competition and increase switching possibilities?
  • What role should standardisation – including open-source contributions – play in advancing multi-cloud adoption?
