Will digitalization disrupt Europe’s social model, or will Europe’s social model help to spur faster digitalization? While the issue isn’t black-or-white, the increasing pace of digitalization has given rise to fears about increasing income inequality and social dislocation. New technology raises the productivity of the economy and demands that labour develop their skills and adjust to new economic conditions. Are current models of welfare fit for purpose?
