In collaboration with the National Board of Trade Sweden, the seminar will present and discuss new evidence on the actual use of tariff preferences in EU free trade agreements.
The EU concludes free trade agreements (FTAs) to provide European firms with better trading opportunities. So how well are the EU’s FTAs used? Which FTAs are used most and which agreements are actually under-utilised? How much value is lost by not using the negotiated tariff preferences? What are the obstacles for firms not to use preferential tariffs? What can be done to help firms reap the benefits from FTAs?
Please join us for a presentation of new empirical evidence by:
Jonas Kasteng, Senior Adviser at the National Board of Trade Sweden, who will present a new report by the Swedish National Board of Trade and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with:
Ignacio Iruarrizaga, Head of Unit for Tariff and Non-Tariff Negotiations, Rules of Origin at DG Trade
Luisa Santos, Director for International Relations at Business Europe
Isabelle Weiler, Director Trade and Industry, EURATEX
The seminar will be moderated by Hanna Deringer, Policy Analyst at ECIPE.
