ECIPE Seminar: Digitalization and Europe’s Social Model

April 05 2017
Venue: ECIPE Office, Avenue des Arts 40, 6th floor, 1040 Brussels
Speakers: Mårten Blix, Claire Dhéret, Fredrik Erixon, Gerald Santucci (tbc)
Time: 15:00

Is digitalisation a friend or foe of the welfare state?

Will digitalization disrupt Europe’s social model, or will Europe’s social model help to spur faster digitalization? While the issue isn’t black-or-white, the increasing pace of digitalization has given rise to fears about increasing income inequality and social dislocation. New technology raises the productivity of the economy and demands that labour develop their skills and adjust to new economic conditions. Are current models of welfare fit for purpose? Will digitalization lead to more or less polarization? Please join us for a panel discussion about technology and social models.
